Beginning in 2025 qualifying totals achieved at LOCAL MEETS will no longer qualify one for Raw Nationals. Qualifying total achieved during the current or prior calendar year at State, Regional, National, World Cup, or Pro meets will continue to be valid.

Updated Rulebook V2024.1 Now Posted

The January 1 update for the rulebook (Rulebook v2024.1) is now posted on the Technical Committee portion of the national website. https://www.usapowerlifting.com/technical/ In light of the major changes made this past September, the goal was to only make the minimal changes that were needed which resulted in only a few updates/changes/clarifications. The new USA Powerlifting rulebook (Version 2023.1) is now posted on the Technical Committee portion of the national website here: https://www.usapowerlifting.com/technical/ This represents the largest revision and reformatting of the rulebook in over 15 years. On the cover page of the rulebook is a link to a 28-minute video introducing the new rulebook and everyone is encouraged to watch the video prior to reading the new rulebook. The new rulebook is effective immediately and replaces the previous version (v2022.2).

Ramsey County Judge Orders USA Powerlifting to cease operations in Minnesota

As many of you know, USA Powerlifting is involved in litigation in Minnesota involving the appropriate and fair inclusion of transgender athletes. The judge assigned to this case has ordered us to cease doing business in Minnesota even though we complied with an earlier court order by submitting a revised policy concerning male to female transgender athletes. We are aware of the false rumors being spread by those who believe we are targeting lifters for OMTs in order to suspend them. Fact: Two athletes had accepted being placed in the USA Powerlifting Registered Testing Pool (RTP) in order to maintain their Pro Card eligibility. The IPF President Gaston Parage called for an ‘Extraordinary’ Congress session in Stavanger, Norway to remove USA Powerlifting. We have been informed that the Arnold 2021 in Columbus will be postponed due to COVID.   The organizers will be holding their bodybuilding and strongman competitions in fall of 2021, but are looking to bring back the expo and the other sports in March 2022. New Women’s Weight Classes Coming 01/01/2021

Beginning January 1, 2021, the 72kg will be eliminated and will now include a 69kg and 76kg weight class. Lifters who achieve the 63kg QT can lift in the 63kg class go up to 69kg Lifters who achieve the 72kg QT can go down to 69kg or up to 76kg Lifters who achieve the 84kg QT can lift in the 84kg class or could go down to 76kg class Qualifying Totals for the new weight classes will be coming for the beginning of the new year.
