2019 USA Powerlifting Regionals Announcement

Across the United States, the 2018 USA Powerlifting Regionals were a big success and we intend to continue the momentum for 2019. Every year, we strive to bring Regionals closer to the caliber of what we expect from a national meet. This is especially relevant with the recent increase in our 2019 Raw Nationals qualifying totals (QT) which should help balance out the entries at Raw Nationals and also encourage even more lifter participation at the Regional level. Remember, we still do not require a QT for Regionals. Our only requirement is that you have a current membership with USA Powerlifting and you have competed in at least one USA Powerlifting sanctioned 3-lift meet since January 1 of the previous year.

In line with bringing Regionals closer to a national meet, we are requiring that all chief referees be national level or higher with side referees still being allowed to be state level. This will change in 2020 when we require the chief AND side referees to be national level or higher. As a member of USA Powerlifting, we strongly encourage you to give back to the sport and volunteer to help at your Regional Meet. If you meet the eligibility requirements to become a national referee, then please consider going through the necessary steps to take your national referee test at the next Regional Meet.

Another new development for 2019 Regionals is that if you compete or volunteer at your local Regional, you will be eligible to vote on the bids and help determine the location of your 2020 Regional. More details to follow.
